Last week I happened to ride my bike by the long-time abandoned Miami Marine Stadium. The guard who is usually there to shoo people away was mia and the gate was open. So I went in to explore.

Sadly the stadium is in terrible shape and needless to say I didn't like what I saw. The next day I came back and shot some pictures that I posted on my Flickr account. Subsequently I’ve been contacted by people that all have fond memories of the stadium when she was in her prime.

The daytime pictures were nice but I had a feeling that by night I could get some much more dramatic photos of the graffiti that is ‘EVERYWHERE’! And I was right. I lit the graffiti up with my flash and the results are spectacular.

Funny anecdote. A friend from Peru saw my photos on Facebook and left a nice comment. I told her that we call that type of painting graffiti in English and wanted to know their word for it. “Vandalism.” Touché, vandalism it is and I’m totally against it when it’s done without proper permission. But just the same I think graffiti photographs awesomely.

Enjoy,
Vic
